About us
Hi, my name is Jami. I am currently finishing my PhD at the University of Lethbridge. This program is my PhD research project. I chose to create a gambling harm reduction program for offenders and ex-offenders based on my previous career in Corrections.
In my work as a parole officer, I met many clients who needed some help with their gambling. But, other that Gamblers Anonymous, I had nothing to offer them. I saw a need for an evidence-based harm reduction program that would educate the offender population not just about gambling, but about how gambling might affect them differently than other people and how they can reduce their chances of suffering gambling harm.
The development of this program and the associated research study are being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Robert Williams at the University of Lethbridge and funded by the Alberta Gambling Research Institute.
I hope you find the Hedge Your Bets gambling harm reduction program useful. Good luck!
